Our goal is to help mitigate global warming by offering far-reaching social benefits while also grossing substantial commercial dividends – a truly sustainable model. With our technology, we can safely filter CO2 out of the atmosphere in large quantities.
Carbon Biotech has been developing a microalgae biotech platform to safely store the CO2 and to revolutionize value chains with sustainable and renewable products that can be used across a variety of industries.
Time Is Running Out
The total amount of atmospheric CO2 has been approaching a significantly critical threshold in the atmosphere. Exceeding the 1.5°C path strongly recommended by IPCC and going beyond the 2° will trigger self-reinforcing, irreversible climate tipping points, driving the planet into the trajectory of “hothouse earth”. We are responding to the urgent need to dramatically reduce our CO2 output and actively remove CO2 from the atmosphere by developing the appropriate technologies.
Mitigate Climate Change
Our goal is to substantially contribute to meeting the demands of the 2015 Paris Agreement with a more ambitious 1.5°C path. We are dedicated to support the EU and German Climate Action Plan 2050 aiming for 80-95% less CO2 emission until 2050. Carbon Biotech believes in replenishing resources, not depleting them. With our technology, we remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere – and use this captured carbon as renewable resource.
Carbon Usage Cycle
We are shifting the perspective of CO2 from waste material into a valuable resource, establishing a sustainable cycle of carbon usage. Harmful CO2 is transformed back into value chains, which in turn can revolutionize a variety of industries and consumer products. Our approach will help to sequester atmospheric carbon, which closes the geological carbon cycle again.
Transformative Carbon Biotechnology
Carbon Biotech is joining the bio-based economy with our High- Power Carbon Dioxide Fixation Technology. Using the 2SCTM process, we biologically capture CO2 into an industry-ready biomass.

Carbon Biotech was founded by the UB-ONE Foundation in November 2017 and is based on technologies developed at Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU).
Carbon Biotech’s team combines the knowledge of outstanding experts having seen decades of professional work in industry and science with the spirit of the young generation.
Carbon Biotech is a sustainable enterprise, meaning that we are targeting human and environmental challenges. Our target is to contribute to the mitigation of global warming. Sustainable enterprises have the advantage of creating social, economic and environmental value, instead of just profit orientation. They emphasize visionary solutions, while remaining transparent and accountable to the public.

As global warming is on the rise and the effects of climate change are already devastating, it is our pressing responsibility to protect our planet and find solutions.
The UB-ONE Foundation acted as the incubator organization, designing the social business concept. Unique in its organization due to being world-wide one of the very few non-profit joint stock companies, Carbon Biotech is capable of mobilizing government grants, donations as well as investments at various stages of its set-up.
The reason Carbon Biotech is a sustainable enterprise
The UB-ONE Foundation acted as the incubator organization, designing the social business concept. Unique in its organization due to being world-wide one of the very few non-profit joint stock companies, Carbon Biotech is capable of mobilizing government grants, donations as well as investments at various stages of its set-up.
Generated profits are to be reinvested into Carbon Biotech in order to enable research and accelerate the development of new sustainably oriented technologies geared towards enabling exponential solutions against climate change.
We intend to develop our technology adaptable, so that it can be independently applied in a range of economic contexts, while maintaining and growing its impact potential.
The main focus to this aspect is our open pond alternative, addressed to less industrialized countries. This uses carefully selected microorganisms to produce bio-fertilizer and dietary bio supplements at a large scale, with much lower industrial and space demands, which can be sold locally at a low cost.
